I love traveling and so did my mom. On just about every road trip, she would make this comment as we passed through many a town or countryside. Her favorite destination? Rocky Mountains -- but that didn't matter. She looked for the positive everywhere she went, enjoying God's creation.
My family just returned from a special vacation to New York City -- one my mom dreamed about taking but never did. Plans to take this trip came out of memories shared at a family gathering around Christmas time. Without going into details right now, we had a great time. All the while, we repeated "I could live here" whenever it seemed appropriate.
As I begin the reflection process, God is helping me see that my mom was attempting to follow the biblical truth "bloom where you are planted". Wherever we are, we should be content and do our best wherever God has "planted" us -- NYC or Chandler, OK. City life is appealing, but we are quite content with the red clay of Oklahoma.
The trip was for pleasure, but it also was intended to honor the life of a wonderful woman. She would be happy, especially if we share the truths we learned along the way.
Carpe Diem!
